Tony Ruth’s illustrations were created originally for the 2019 Design in Tech Report and re-featured in the 2020 CX Report. The work has been made available and is open-sourced. Here is a link to the original resources. We first discovered this awesome set of illustrations in the 2020 John Maeda | Design in Tech Report. (Design trends revolutionizing the entrepreneurial and corporate ecosystems in tech. Related M&A activity, new patterns in creativity × business, and the rise of computational design.)
Making this great work a tiny bit more inclusive
Feeling inspired we thought it would be great to make a poster for teachers, parents, and helpers. During the Covid-19 pandemic, nearly everyone around the globe is in quarantine and homeschooling. Collectively, we have some unexpected contemplative time to think, learn, and share.
Furthermore, we are experiencing important civil demonstrations due to white supremacy in the US. Our society is pushing from within for black and indigenous people to have their civil liberties and justice protected. Black Lives Matter! Tony’s Ruth’s Equity Series (2019) made a big impact on us and we wanted to help facilitate getting it to teachers and helpers at this time.
After chatting with John briefly and discovering that the work had been open-sourced, we thought we could update the artwork to be slightly more inclusive while creating a poster for educational use. So here it is, updated on Juneteenth 2020 with more inclusive people and the same powerful learnings.
Please share and teach with this poster freely.
